How much does it cost?


We want all of our customers to characterize us as being competent and having integrity, and this extends to not surprising you with a higher than expected bill. Pricing your windows is not as simple as "How many windows do you have?" Window terminology can be confusing and is not always uniform (double hung, single hung, casement, picture windows, mullion, storm, frame, sash, sill, side light, skylight, screens, film, etc.). Because of this, it is very difficult to give an estimate over the phone. Please allow us to come out to your house and give you an estimate. Our pricing method is objective i.e. not based upon how much we think you can afford.There is no cost for the estimate and you don't even need to be home.

How do you clean the glass (what's the secret)?


Our solution of choice is devoid of harsh chemicals. We use Glass Gleam 3, manufactured by Titan Labs for professional window cleaners. It's designed to be used with a squeegee and that is the secret.


Knowing how to properly use a squeegee is the difference between experiencing bright, clear windows and being faced with a hazy, smeary mess the next time the sun shines through. So, we use professional grade soft rubber squeegees.  Simply put, the squeegee removes the solution from the glass rather than drying the glass (with a towel). The process is much more efficient, especially on large units, and the result is much more satisfying. What's required is some know how, some coordination, and a lot of practice.

What about the frames and window sills?


We dust off the window frames and mullions and will wipe down any exposed window sills as well. Additionally, if your windows slide open, we will clean underneath the part that moves. If your windows crank open on hinges, we do not automatically open these at any point in the cleaning process. For a small additional charge, this can be arranged.

What about the screens?


You have a couple of options as far as screen cleaning goes. Your window cleaning price includes wiping down any screens that we handle in order to get to the glass. Generally speaking, wiping or brushing the screen seems to be sufficient for screens that are "dusty" but not for screens that are "dirty". Our standard recommendation is that if your screens sit on the outside of the window, get them washed. When we wash the screens, we'll collect them and take them outside. We will wipe them down as needed, scrub them on both sides with soapy water and a soft nylon brush and then rinse them off and get them dry.


Even super clean screens will compromise the look of a clean window. So, if you never open your windows then we would recommend storing your screens in your basement, attic, or garage so they don't obstruct the view.

I have some really high windows; how will you reach them?


We are committed to getting ourselves up close to what's being cleaned so we can do an excellent job. Consequently, we have an array of ladders that we use. We will show up with all the equipment needed to do the job correctly.

How do you keep from marking up my walls, curtains, carpets, etc.?


We will wear shoe covers inside your house. We will put bath towels under the windows to protect your floors. We will also make sure the ladder contact points are covered to make sure no marks are left on your carpets or walls.

Will the windows stay clean? Do you apply some type of dirt repellent?


No. We believe that getting the windows as clean as possible is the best way to keep them looking clean. In our experience, glass waxes or various other products that promise some type of water sheeting action or dirt repellency leaves a type of haze on the glass that prevents it from looking truly clean. Additionally, these products depend on exposure to heavy rain so interior glass as well as windows protected by overhangs see no benefit from the application. We believe you will appreciate how long the windows stay clean without trying to sell you on a marketing gimmick.
Do I need to be home when the work is done?


No. Many of our customers give us access to the inside of their homes regardless of their ability to be present while we work inside. We have no policy with regard to customers presence or supervision. More specifically, even if your work is "outside only" we may need to come inside to get the screens out of the way as well as put them back in. You do not need to be present in order to pay.

Do you use any strong chemicals? (Will they harm my pets?)


The strength of our cleaning solution is no stronger than typical dishwashing soaps. The solution itself does a good job of dissolving dirt without leaving a filmy residue. If the dirt on your windows is stubborn, we will just need to use some extra elbow grease. Paint, adhesives, and other post construction types of debris are removed manually rather than dissolved with solvents. There is no ammonia in the solution.

What preparations are necessary?


Well, we need to be able to get to the windows. If you could remove items that are suction cupped to the glass and clear delicate items or decorations from the window sill...we would appreciate it.

When is the best time to get my windows cleaned?


The short answer is "when they are dirty". The long answer reduces to "It's up to you".

What if the forecast predicts rain on the day of my appointment?


Let's wait and see what happens. Weather changes quickly.

What if it rains just before you are to arrive?


If this happens, we will probably get some mud on our shoes.

What if it rains while you are cleaning my windows?


If this happens, we and your windows will get wet, but they will still look great.

What if it rains right after you clean my windows?


With few exceptions, they'll still look really clean.

Does Image One send out subcontractors to the do the job?


No. We only use employees.

Do you carry insurance?


I wish more people asked this question. Yes, we carry liability insurance to protect your property and more importantly, we carry workers comp to protect you and us in the event of bodily injury sustained by an employee in the course of the cleaning. We are happy to provide you with a certificate of insurance upon request. We do not carry this with us. So if you require a copy, please ask a few days in advance and one will be emailed to you directly from our insurance agent.
